Things to Do With Kids in Potong Pasir, Bidadari and MacPherson, Singapore (2026)

Every guide to this part of Singapore tells you what is here. None of them tells you what is not.

Potong Pasir, Bidadari and MacPherson have no ActiveSG swimming complex and no National Library Board branch. Not a small one, not a temporary closure. Checking ActiveSG's own index of facilities and NLB's own index of branches, there is no entry for any of these four estates. The nearest pool is Toa Payoh or Geylang East. The nearest library is Toa Payoh or Serangoon. If you are moving here with young children, that is worth knowing before you sign.

What the district does have is the most interesting new park in Singapore. Bidadari was a cemetery from 1908 until the last exhumations finished in 2006. NParks opened a 13-hectare park on the site in September 2024, describing it as inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood of Winnie-the-Pooh, and built it around a stormwater lake that doubles as a bird habitat. Children climb through Adventure Playwoods a few hundred metres from a memorial garden holding the headstones of the people who were moved.

Eight of the 17 places below cost nothing. Three of them are hawker centres standing within 400 metres of each other on Circuit Road, which is the densest concentration of hawker food in the country outside the city. Bidadari Park and the green corridor

1. Bidadari Park

Thirteen hectares on the site of the former Bidadari Cemetery, opened September 2024. NParks lays it out around Alkaff Lake, a stormwater detention pond that holds runoff during heavy rain and works as a bird habitat the rest of the time. Rain Tree Island sits in the middle of it. The rest of the park runs through Rolling Hills, Ficus Hill and Ficus Stream, a Marshland boardwalk, a Woodland Experiential Trail and a Raptor Nest Platform, with the Tembusu Lawn and the Open Lawn for anyone who just wants grass.

Lighting runs from 7pm to 7am everywhere except the nature areas, which stay dark on purpose for the wildlife. Most of the park is wheelchair and pram accessible. The two exceptions are the Woodland Experiential Trail and the Marshland Boardwalk.

Why kids will love it: Alkaff Lake is big enough that walking round it feels like a proper expedition, and there are herons and kingfishers on it most mornings. The Rolling Hills are for running down. Come before 10am or after 5pm, because the young trees do not throw much shade yet.

2. Adventure Playwoods and the Hundred Acre Wood theme

The playground inside Bidadari Park sits in the northern half, reached from the Greenway North path. It is built as woodland rather than as equipment on a rubber mat, which is the whole point of the Hundred Acre Wood framing NParks uses on its own page. Climbing structures sit among planted trees, and the Heritage Walk and Sang Nila Utama Boulevard run past it if you want to stretch the visit into a loop.

Why kids will love it: It is a playground you arrive at by walking through a wood, which is rare in Singapore and does most of the work before anyone climbs anything. Best for four to ten. Bring water, because the nearest shop is back at the mall.

3. The Memorial Garden and the old cemetery gate

The Memorial Garden holds headstones and markers kept from the cemetery that stood here until 2006. It is a short walk from the playground and it is the reason this park is not like other parks. Children ask what it is, and the answer is a straightforward piece of Singapore history: a burial ground opened in 1908, used by Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Sinhalese communities, exhumed to make way for housing.

Why kids will love it: Honestly, they will find it strange rather than fun, and that is worth ten minutes. Older children who have started asking about history get a real answer standing in front of a real object. Younger ones will want to go back to the climbing.

4. The Bidadari Park Connector

A 680-metre link from Upper Serangoon Road along Bidadari Park Drive into the main park. It is fully wheelchair accessible, which matters here because two of the park's own trails are not. Buses 107 and 107M run along it.

Why kids will love it: It is short, flat and safe, which makes it the right first cycle for a child who has just come off training wheels. Ten minutes end to end at a four-year-old's pace.

5. The Kallang Park Connector

The long one. It starts at Bishan Road, follows the Kallang River south and finishes at Sims Avenue, 7.87 kilometres in total, cutting through the western edge of this district on the way. Four overhead bridges cross Braddell Road, the Pan Island Expressway, Serangoon Road and Bendemeer Road. Cyclists push or carry bikes up the steps at those points, and there are a few crossings that are not barrier free, so it is not a route for a pram end to end.

Why kids will love it: Riding along a river for an hour with four bridges to climb feels like a journey rather than a park visit. Best for eight and up on their own bikes. Start at Bishan Road and go south, so the return leg is the shorter one.

6. The Balam Park Connector

The quiet one, and the right size for small legs. It runs 1.2 kilometres from the junction of Merpati Road and Circuit Road along the Pelton Canal, ending at Paya Lebar Road. Wheelchair accessible for its whole length, so it works with a pram.

Why kids will love it: Canal water, dragonflies, and enough shade to be walkable at midday. Pair it with lunch at one of the three Circuit Road hawker centres, which sit at the northern end.

Indoor, for the afternoon it rains

7. Kiztopia Club at The Woodleigh Mall

Three thousand square feet on an underwater theme, with mega ball pits, a trampoline, a role-play room, a sand pit, obstacle courses, a submarine and slides. No timeslot booking is needed and walk-ins are accepted, which is unusual and useful on a wet Saturday. Children aged 1 to 12 need a paid ticket. Infants under one go free with a paying child. Grip socks are compulsory and there is a waiver to sign.

One date to avoid: Kiztopia runs deep cleaning on 6 October 2026.

Why kids will love it: A submarine indoors. The ball pit is the largest thing in the mall and the role-play room keeps the three-year-olds busy while older siblings do the obstacle course. Buy grip socks at the counter if you forget them, which everyone does once.

8. Boulder Planet at Tai Seng

A full bouldering gym at Grantral Mall, and the cheapest way in Singapore to find out whether your child takes to climbing. The Youth Pass is $16 for anyone 18 and under, though it is weekdays before 6.30pm only and excludes public holidays. A standard single entry is $33. Climbing shoes hire for $6.

Know before you go: the BP Rocketeers children's class for ages 6 to 12 runs at the Sembawang outlet, not here. Tai Seng is open climbing only. The unit at #03-10 in the same mall is the retail showroom rather than the gym.

Why kids will love it: Bouldering needs no ropes and no partner, so a child can start climbing within two minutes of arriving. Best for six and up. Go on a weekday afternoon and the Youth Pass makes it $16 plus shoes.

Classes worth the trip

9. The Fort Studios

An art studio in an industrial block off Kallang Pudding Road, running small classes in two age bands: Eenie Meenie for 5 to 10 and Miney Mo for 10 to 14. Lessons run 90 minutes with one teacher to six students, which is a genuinely small ratio. A trial is $30. Four lessons are $180 and valid six weeks, eight are $320 and valid ten weeks. Visits are by appointment.

Why kids will love it: Six children to a teacher means the work is theirs rather than a worksheet everyone fills in the same way. Best for a child who already draws at home and has run out of things to be shown.

10. Kravist Singapore

Krav maga for children, split into three bands: Kids for 6 to 10, Juniors for 10 to 14 and Teens for 14 to 17. A term runs about 16 classes across roughly four months. Kids work out at about $29 a class or $470 a term, Juniors about $33 or $520, Teens about $33 or $535. There is an open seminar before each intake for $10, which is the sensible way to start.

Why kids will love it: It is self-defence rather than a graded martial art, so there is no belt ladder and no forms to memorise. Best for a child who wants the practical part without the ceremony. The weekly timetable is only on the booking system, so ask when you enquire.

11. Martial House

Wushu, taught from two studios on the same floor of Grantral Mall at MacPherson. The school describes itself as a Singapore social enterprise. Kungfu Tots takes children from four to six, which is younger than most martial arts schools will start. Bookings run through an external system and no price is published, so ask directly.

Why kids will love it: Wushu is the acrobatic end of Chinese martial arts, so there is jumping and spinning from the first lesson rather than a year of stances. Best for four to six in Kungfu Tots, and it shares a mall with Boulder Planet if you want to fill an afternoon.

12. Infiniti Kids Multi Sport

Three Saturday sessions a month at The Arena on Woodleigh Park, at 9am and 10am. The idea is one sport a month rotating through athletics, basketball, rugby, volleyball, football, baseball, hockey, mini tennis and target sports, so a child samples nine or ten sports a year instead of committing to one at five. A 45-minute trial for three and four year olds is $15. One-to-one sessions are $120.

Why kids will love it: A different sport every month means nobody is behind, because everyone starts again in four weeks. Best for three to seven, and the honest pitch to parents is that it defers the choice of a sport rather than forcing it early.

Community clubs and a craft afternoon

13. Potong Pasir Community Club

The estate's community club runs badminton courts, cafes and free wifi, and its course list is more useful than most. Piano runs from Grade 1 to Grade 8 at $270 to $450. Ballet Majors Intermediate Foundation is $189 to $199. Primary 1 Chinese is $120. There are free interest groups too, including a youth dragon boat group, table tennis and silat. Yamaha Music School's Potong Pasir branch operates from inside this building.

Two dated items: a badminton tournament on 17 October 2026 at $15, and a free session on 26 September 2026.

Why kids will love it: The free interest groups are the find. Youth dragon boat costs nothing and is the kind of thing a ten-year-old remembers. Counter service is 10am to 6pm, so go in person to sign up.

14. Bidadari Community Club

The new estate's community club, on the ground floor of the same building as The Woodleigh Mall. Facilities are thinner than Potong Pasir's, with badminton courts listed and little else, but the events calendar is active. Abacus mental arithmetic at Basic Stage 1 runs $135 to $145.

Two dates worth having: a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration on 19 September 2026 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at $2 to $5, and Halloween Mystery 2026 Chapter 1 on 24 October 2026 from 3pm to 7pm at $5.

Why kids will love it: Both of those events are cheap, local and pitched at families, which is the whole case for knowing your CC exists. Counter service is only 2pm to 6pm, so plan the visit.

15. The Cozy Cabin

A small craft studio off Tannery Lane running daily workshops strictly by appointment, capacity 25. The catalogue is priced per project rather than per term, which makes it a good one-off: a phone strap is $19.90 for an hour, a glass cup decal $25 for 90 minutes without illustrations or $40 with, a beginner suncatcher $40, a tea jar decal $55, a candle jar decal $65, and a matcha set $80 for three hours.

Why kids will love it: They leave holding a thing they made, which is the difference between a workshop and a class. Best for eight and up for the glass work. Book ahead, because it is appointment only and the studio is small.

16. Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre

The new estate's hawker centre, run by Fei Siong Social Enterprise, which makes it one of Singapore's socially conscious enterprise centres rather than a straight NEA tender. It sits a short walk from Bidadari Park and is the obvious lunch after a morning at Alkaff Lake.

Why kids will love it: Air circulation, seats you do not have to fight for on a weekday, and enough stalls that a fussy eater finds something. Go at 11.30am and you will get a table.

17. The three Circuit Road hawker centres

This is the fact worth printing. NEA's own register lists four hawker centres in this district and three of them are on Circuit Road, standing within about 400 metres of each other: Blocks 79 and 79A, Block 80, and Block 89. All three are under the Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town Council. Nowhere else in Singapore outside the city centre packs three hawker centres that close together.

Why kids will love it: Three centres in one walk means you can settle an argument about what to eat by visiting all of them. It is also the cheapest lunch in this guide by a distance, and the Balam Park Connector starts at the northern end.
