Things to Do With Kids in Pasir Ris and Simei

There is a mangrove forest in the middle of Pasir Ris. Six hectares of it, with a boardwalk and a birdwatching tower, and it sits about a kilometre from a shopping mall, a swimming pool with two slides and an MRT station on the East West Line. Most guides to the east treat Pasir Ris as a day trip to one water park. It is a town with a 70 hectare park along its whole northern edge, and the park is the reason to come.

This guide covers Pasir Ris and Simei. Eighteen places, verified in September 2026 against NParks, ActiveSG, the National Library Board, the National Environment Agency, the People's Association and each operator's own site. Nine of them are free. One of them, Pasir Ris Mall, opened after most of the competing guides were written, so nobody else lists what is inside it. Two venues that Google still recommends have gone, and we name them rather than sending you there.

Tampines is the next town along and shares the same postal sectors. The Tampines guide covers that side, and nothing here repeats it.

Pasir Ris Park and the free outdoors

1. Pasir Ris Park Adventure Playground

NParks describes the playground at Pasir Ris Park as Singapore's largest. The park itself runs 70 hectares over 3.2 kilometres, from Pasir Ris Road to Jalan Loyang Besar, and play areas are marked in two of its four areas, so a family can pick the end nearest their car park and still have plenty. The equipment is the modern moulded sort: tall sculpted climbing towers with hand and foot holds set into them, fireman's poles down the middle, all sitting on blue rubber safety surfacing under rain trees.

Parking is the thing to get right. Car park C has 2,542 lots and charges. Car parks D and F are free, with 217 and 133 lots. Car park A, the closest to the eastern play area, has 141 lots and charges.

Why kids will love it: The climbing towers are tall enough to look like a dare and gentle enough to be climbable by a five-year-old, and the surfacing means a fall costs nothing but pride. Older children treat the three towers as a circuit. Go before 10am. There is grass and there are rain trees, but the play surface itself takes the sun and by midday the rubber is hot.

2. The Pasir Ris Park mangrove boardwalk and birdwatching tower

Six hectares of mangrove sit in the middle of the park, on the Sungei Tampines side, and a boardwalk runs through them to a birdwatching tower. NParks names what you are looking for: the White-collared Kingfisher and the Black-naped Oriole all year, and the Blue-throated Bee-eater between April and September. On the mud below the boardwalk there are Giant Mudskippers, which climb trees, and Mud Lobsters, which build volcano-shaped mounds.

Two more things are within a few minutes' walk. The Maze Garden is a real hedge maze. The Kitchen Garden grows lady's finger, cocoa, common mugwort and Japanese honeysuckle, all labelled.

NParks advises visitors not to approach crocodiles in the coastal areas, and to stay calm and back away slowly if they see one. That advisory is on the park page, it is not folklore, and it is worth reading before you take a toddler off the boardwalk.

Why kids will love it: Mudskippers. A fish that climbs a tree holds a six-year-old for longer than any playground, and the boardwalk puts them at eye level with the mud. Bring a bottle of water and go at low tide, when the mudflat is exposed and everything is moving. Ages 4 and up, because younger children will want to be carried on the way back.

3. Pasir Ris beach and the 65 barbecue pits

The beach runs the full northern edge of the park, and there are 65 barbecue pits along it, bookable through NParks. This is where a Pasir Ris Saturday actually ends: a pit booked for the evening, the children in the sand, and bicycles hired from the shop in the park.

Say the unglamorous part plainly. NParks publishes a box jellyfish precaution for anyone entering the water here, and the crocodile advisory covers the coastal areas too. Families still swim. But this is a sandcastle and paddle beach rather than a swimming beach, and the pool at 120 Pasir Ris Central is 90 cents away if swimming is the point.

Why kids will love it: Sand, a long flat shoreline to run along and a barbecue at the end of it. The park's sea sports kiosk and bicycle rental are both on this stretch, so an afternoon can go from digging to pedalling without moving the car. Best after 4pm, when the sand cools and the pits start.

4. Pasir Ris Town Park

Pasir Ris Town Park is 14 hectares and it is directly opposite Pasir Ris MRT, which makes it the easiest green space in this guide to reach. The pond is the point. It is a fishing pond, it is busy with anglers most mornings, and the paths round it are wide and flat. HDB built the park in the late 1980s and NParks looks after it now.

It also contains the hawker centre at number 18 in this list, which is a genuinely useful piece of planning: fishing, a playground and 42 food stalls inside one 14 hectare block.

Why kids will love it: Somebody is always catching something. Twenty minutes of watching a line, then a loop of the pond on a scooter, then lunch a hundred metres away. Good from age 3. Do not bring a fishing rod without checking the pond's own rules at the park, which are posted on site.

5. Sungei Api Api Park

Sungei Api Api Park is a shady linear park along the Api Api river, wedged between the Riverina estate and the water, and it links Pasir Ris Drive 3 to Pasir Ris Park. It is the walking route from the HDB blocks to the beach, and it is the part of the estate that most guides skip entirely. Entrances are at Pasir Ris Drive 3, Riverina View and Elias Road.

It is a connector rather than a destination. There is no playground on it. What it has is tree cover for most of its length, which is more than the beach path can say.

Why kids will love it: The river runs beside you the whole way, which turns a walk into a hunt for herons and monitor lizards. Use it as the shaded approach to Pasir Ris Park rather than as a trip in itself. Good for a first proper family walk from about age 5, and good for a pushchair at any age.

6. Simei Park Connector

Simei has one park connector and it is 2 kilometres long. It starts at Simei Street 1, crosses Upper Changi Road and ends at Upper Changi Road East, where it meets the Bedok Park Connector. It passes under the East West Line viaduct at Simei MRT, runs alongside ITE College East and the Singapore Expo, and joins the Tampines Park Connector by an overhead bridge. NParks lists the whole route as wheelchair accessible.

That is the honest summary of outdoor Simei. It is a small estate of low blocks with neighbourhood playgrounds, and the connector is the only piece of it that NParks itself maps.

Why kids will love it: A flat, sealed 2 kilometres with trains going overhead and no road to cross for most of it, which is exactly the surface a child learning to cycle needs. Start at Simei Street 1 and ride towards the Expo. Best from age 6, and best before 9.30am, because there is little shade.

Water, and there is a lot of it

7. Wild Wild Wet

Wild Wild Wet is the biggest paid attraction in this guide and the reason most families outside the east have heard of Pasir Ris. It sits inside Downtown East at 1 Pasir Ris Close. The thing to know before you plan a day around it is that it closes every Tuesday, and that on weekdays it does not open until noon.

Prices split into off-peak and peak. Off-peak means weekdays that are not gazetted school or public holidays. Peak means weekends, school holidays and public holidays, and the difference is $8 to $10 a head.

Why kids will love it: A full afternoon of slides with no queue for the lockers if you arrive at noon on a Wednesday. Children under 3 go free, which makes a family of four with a toddler cheaper than it looks. Last admission is 5pm and the park shuts at 6pm, so an arrival after 3pm buys under three hours.

8. Pasir Ris Swimming Complex

This is the pool worth the detour. ActiveSG classes Pasir Ris as a swimming complex with special features, and the features are two water slides and a jacuzzi alongside the four pools: a competition pool, a teaching pool, a fun and wading pool and a catchment pool. It is also an Inclusive Pool, with lift access, a pool wheelchair, accessible toilets and a ramp into the water.

Two scheduling facts. It closes all day every Wednesday for maintenance, unless that Wednesday is a public holiday, in which case it opens as normal. And on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday it opens early at 6.30am, competition pool only, until 8am.

Why kids will love it: Two slides and a wading pool for 80 cents, which is the best value in this guide by a distance. The teaching pool means a child who cannot swim still has somewhere to stand. Go Thursday or Friday morning. Saturday afternoon at a pool with slides is exactly as crowded as you would guess.

9. PAssion WaVe @ Pasir Ris

PAssion WaVe @ Pasir Ris is the People's Association water sports outlet at the western end of the park, at 125 Elias Road. It runs kayaking and other paddle sports off the beach, and it is the cheapest route into the water in this part of Singapore once a child has a certificate.

Be clear about the catch. The kayak hire sessions onePA lists for this outlet require a Singapore Canoe Federation certificate, so a family cannot simply walk up and take a boat out. What a beginner books is a course. PA does not publish a public rate card for this outlet, so ring before you plan around it.

Why kids will love it: A proper certificate at the end of it, which is the difference between an afternoon out and a sport. Take bus 403 from Pasir Ris Bus Interchange and get off at Pasir Ris Pk, stop 77129. Closed all day Monday and on every public holiday, which catches families out.

10. Ohana Beach House by Adventure Paddlers

Ohana Beach House sits on the sand in Pasir Ris Park, off car park A and a two minute walk along the beach to the right. Adventure Paddlers has run water sports here since 1996 and the kit list is the appeal: stand up paddle boards, sit on top kayaks in singles and tandems, sailing outriggers, a dinghy, sea cycles, a water trampoline and a paddle boat. Every craft hire includes life jackets.

It is also a beach front restaurant, which is the part that makes it work with small children. One parent paddles, the other sits.

Why kids will love it: A water trampoline and a sea cycle, neither of which they will have tried. The unguided hire model means equipment is put at the shoreline and the family uses it at their own pace, so nobody is on a timetable. Take bus 354 from Pasir Ris MRT, then walk nine minutes. Message ahead, because nothing about hours or rates is published.

Horses, climbing and indoor play

11. Gallop Stable, both Pasir Ris outlets

Gallop Stable started in Pasir Ris with 13 ponies and now keeps more than 160 horses across the company, most of them ex-racehorses retrained or retired here. Two of its outlets are in this town, five minutes apart by car, and the offer is the same at both: pony rides, pony feeding, trail rides, riding lessons, camps and an art and craft corner.

The Pasir Ris Park stable sits at car park C, at 61 Pasir Ris Green. The Downtown East stable is inside D'Resort at 1 Pasir Ris Close. Their walk-in hours differ, and the park stable is closed on Mondays while the Downtown East one is not, so check which one you are driving to.

Why kids will love it: A hand-led pony ride is the shortest distance between a three-year-old and a very large animal, and the feeding is often the part they talk about afterwards. Go to the park stable on a weekend morning, when it opens at 8am and the heat has not arrived. Neither outlet publishes prices, so ring first.

12. Wan To Play Sky Castle, Pasir Ris Mall

Sky Castle is Wan To Play's Pasir Ris Mall outlet, at #02-58, and it is the single biggest reason the older guides to this town are out of date: the mall opened after they were written and nobody has updated them. It opens at 9am, an hour before the rest of the mall, and it stays open until 9pm every day of the week.

Tickets are sold over the counter only. Wan To Play states plainly that online ticket sales are currently unavailable, so do not plan on buying ahead.

Why kids will love it: An hour costs $23.98 and a straight two hours costs $38.15, which makes the two hour pass the better buy the moment your child settles. The 9am opening is the useful bit: a rainy Saturday can start here and be finished before lunch. Best for ages 2 to 10.

13. The free playground at Pasir Ris Mall

Pasir Ris Mall put its children's play areas outdoors, on Level 2 at the Central Greenway, overlooking the MRT tracks. They are free, they are open whenever the mall is, and they are the reason a shopping trip in this town does not have to end in tears.

The mall has also done the unglamorous parenting infrastructure properly. There are nappy changing and nursing rooms on Basement 1, Basement 2 and Level 2, each with basins, hot water dispensers and changing stations, and family parking bays sit near the Basement 1 and Basement 2 entrances.

Why kids will love it: Trains. The playground looks straight out over Pasir Ris station, so every few minutes something green and white pulls in. It is a small, sensible set of equipment rather than a destination, which is exactly right for twenty minutes before dinner. Best for ages 2 to 8.

14. Tayo Station

Tayo Station is a 10,000 square foot indoor playground on Level 3 of E!Hub at Downtown East, themed around the Korean animated series about a little blue bus. The centrepiece is a road circuit that children drive around, with real road signs and rules, and around it sit a ball pool, a sand-style play area, a jungle gym and a film corner.

The standard ticket is two hours and covers one child aged 10 months to 12 years plus one adult. A second adult is $8. There is no swapping of adults partway through, which their terms state plainly.

Why kids will love it: Driving. A four-year-old given a bus and a set of road markings will circle that track for forty minutes without looking up. If they are still going at the two hour mark, extra playtime is $5 per 30 minutes, which is cheaper than starting again. Best for ages 1 to 7.

15. Upwall Climbing

Upwall Climbing is on the ground floor of E!Hub, at #01-105, and it is built for beginners rather than for competition climbers. There are 15 auto belay lanes, 10 top rope lanes and 8 lead lanes. The auto belays are the ones that matter for a family, because they let a child climb without a parent who knows how to belay.

The rule to plan around: children aged 12 and under must be accompanied into the gym by an adult, and that adult buys a $10 supervision ticket. One adult can supervise up to three children, so a party of three siblings costs one supervision ticket, not three.

Why kids will love it: Fifteen auto belay lanes means no queue and no waiting for a turn on the rope, so a first-timer spends the hour climbing rather than standing in line. One adult covers up to three children, so bring the siblings. Sunday closes earlier than the rest of the week, at 8.30pm, so an evening session is a Friday or Saturday job.

16. The rooftop playground at Eastpoint Mall, Simei

Eastpoint Mall put a playground on its sixth floor roof and made it nautical. There are ship slides, rope climbing structures and seating for the adults, and the whole thing is free and open whenever the mall is. The mall sits 70 metres from Simei MRT, which makes this the single easiest outing in Simei.

This is the entry that no competing guide gets right, because it is filed under the mall's own family page rather than anywhere obvious. There is also a 24 hour supermarket downstairs, which matters more than it should at 7pm on a Sunday.

Why kids will love it: A ship on a roof. Six floors up, outdoors, with slides coming off it, which beats any indoor play space in the estate for the price of nothing. Come after 5pm when the concrete has cooled. Best for ages 3 to 9.

17. Pasir Ris Library

Pasir Ris Library is on Level 4 of White Sands, 80 metres from the MRT. The National Library Board says it was set up to reach out to young families in Pasir Ris, and it holds a dedicated space for teenagers, which is a rarer thing than a children's corner.

One correction worth making, because several listings still get it wrong. The branch is called Pasir Ris Library, not Pasir Ris Public Library, and it closes at 9pm, not 10.30pm. Anything telling you otherwise is out of date.

Why kids will love it: Air conditioning, a children's collection and a seat, 80 metres from the platform, free, seven days a week. It is the correct answer to a 2pm downpour. The teen space gives an older sibling somewhere to go that is not the children's section, which keeps everybody on side.

The lunch stop

18. Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre

The hawker centre sits inside Pasir Ris Town Park at Block 110 Pasir Ris Central, 260 metres from the MRT. It opened in January 2018 and has 42 cooked food stalls spread over two levels, which is a lot of choice for a town centre and enough that a fussy eater is not a problem.

Put one date in the diary. The National Environment Agency has it closed for spring cleaning from 16 to 18 November 2026. It was also shut for two days in February, May and August this year on the same cycle, so check before a long drive.

Why kids will love it: Two floors, 42 stalls and a park with a fishing pond immediately outside the door. Let each child choose from a different stall, which is the whole point of a hawker centre and impossible in a food court. Stalls set their own hours, so go between 11.30am and 2pm for the fullest spread.

Two places to cross off your list

Both of these still appear in search results and on directory pages, and neither is there any more.

eXplorerkid at Downtown East was for years the largest indoor playground in Singapore, at 10,000 square feet on Level 3 of E!Hub. Its own domain, explorerkid.com, now redirects to NTUC Club's UPlay marketplace, and eXplorerkid is not listed among the experiences there. Downtown East's own directory of 18 attractions does not include it either. Tayo Station, at number 14 above, occupies the indoor playground slot on that floor now.

Hi Roller Indoor Skating ran a rink at E!Hub #05-103. It is absent from Downtown East's own list of tenants, and the operator's live homepage now advertises two academies, at West and at Hougang, with no Pasir Ris rink. The old rink pages are still up and still carry the Pasir Ris address, which is why search results keep offering it.

Jungle lists 25 locations across Pasir Ris, Simei and the western edge of Loyang. Downtown East and the two malls hold most of them. These are the ones worth knowing, each linked to the right branch.
